My client is a world leader in the manufacturing of complex optical and laser equipment and now seek an experienced Production Manager to join them to oversee the entire facility
Responsibilities:
- Prioritizes production schedules based on product introduction, equipment / operator efficiency, and materials supply
- Plan and administer procedures and budgets and make appropriate budgetary recommendations on capital expenditures
- Select and develop personnel to ensure efficient operation of the production function
- Develop schedules and capacity requirements to achieve necessary shipment goals
- Monitor and ensure on-time delivery by troubleshooting issues with staff, sourcing channels, and logistics personnel
- Facilitate daily production update and address technical issues
- Set clear direction and bridge cross functional communication gaps
- Escalate issues critical to operations success and develop methods to collect and maintain data to identify areas for focused improvement
- Maximize Productivity and Improve production flexibility with cross-training programs
- Monitor the production floor and create strategic plans to improve overall production efficiency
- Create procedures and processes that and implement a lean manufacturing methodology
- Assume responsibility Production Layout and Layout Capacity Planning
- Manage Sub-contractors according to quarterly fluctuating volume
- Formulate a strategy for outsourcing Vs insourcing
Requirements:
- Degree in Engineering/Manufacturing or equivalent with at least 10 years' experience in optics, optical equipment or laser equipment manufacturing
- Experience in a high mix low volume manufacturing environment
- Excellent project management skills
- Ability to manage a diverse workforce (Technician to PhD level)
- Familiar with laser, optics and optical system concepts and procedures
- Stronghold with Lean Manufacturing, NPI, DfM and 6 Sigma
- Knowledge on Industrial Engineering and Quality
