My client is a world leader in the manufacturing of innovative products, devices and equipment. As part of their growth strategy in Asia, they now seek an experienced EHS Manager to join them to oversee the function for Asian operations

Strategic Role

Responsibilities:

  • Assume responsibility as the key focal point overseeing health and safety functions for Asian operations
  • Develop and implement Health and Safety Management Systems that are compliant, effective and align with strategic objectives
  • Oversee a diverse portfolio including EHS, Workers Compensation, Injury Management and Health and Well-being
  • Maximise organisational risk resilience through the ongoing development of people, resources, systems and processes
  • Create roadmaps, drive and implement appropriate solutions to meet the fast-growing demand within Asia
  • Effectively manage hazard identification and incident reporting / management processes to minimise risks within the organisation
  • Monitor and review operational cost and assume responsibility for financial improvement
  • Lead regional EHS review process to help management detect accident/health hazards and determine corrective or preventative measures
  • Assess and manages EHS/ facility-related risks with the long-term objective to eliminate hazards and further reduce risk across global operations
  • Monitor health and safety indicators, internal changes, external development in legislation or best practice and recommend appropriate action
  • Coordinate and manage the integration and continuous improvement of health and safety processes
  • Develop and implement strategies and processes that facilitate effective injury and claims management
  • Ensure that contractors under supervision and working at facilities have completed any relevant WSH training, GMP training and licensing requirements
  • Consult, review and submit application to relevant Ministries pertaining to new chemicals usage within, license renewal, summons, etc
  • Provide technical input to the business continuity planning process and be available to support the Emergency Response team

Requirements:

  • Degree in Engineering/Health and Safety or equivalent with at least 10 years' EHS experience from a manufacturing facility and corporate function
  • Extensive EHS experience, including working-level subject matter expertise, project/process leadership and department or functional area management
  • Registered Workplace Safety & Health Officer (WSHO) and Certified Fire Safety Manager
  • Excellent knowledge of local WSH and NEA legislation, regulations and applicable standards
  • Hazardous substance license will be a plus
  • Stronghold with ISO140001 requirements with ability to draft new policies and understand environmental impact
  • Strong operational and commercial experience with ability to influence at all levels within the organization
  • Ability to engage the workforce at all levels in the journey to build a strong EHS culture and a collaborative team-oriented approach
